Green Impact
Principal Consultant, July 2008 – present, San Francisco, California
Green Impact, a sustainability consulting practice, helps NGOs, foundations and socially responsible businesses develop and implement sustainability and communications strategies that catalyze action. Results delivered include:
- Created compelling, original content for UCSF’s new sustainability web site focusing on a range of best practices including green procurement, climate change, waste reduction and sustainable food.
- Developed the strategy and content for Robert Half International’s first Corporate Citizenship Report.
- Supported Plantronics in developing their Global Citizenship strategy.
- Provided content and design for the 2010 Annual Report for BSCI, a business collaborative focused on social compliance in the global supply chain.
- Developed successful funding strategies and grant proposals for the Sonoma Land Trust.
Institute at the Golden Gate
Program Director, June 2007 – June 2008, Sausalito
- A key player in the design and launch of the Institute at the Golden Gate—a public-private partnership between the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, the National Parks Service and Cavallo Point, a new green hotel and conference facility.
- Developed the initial marketing campaign and program framework, growing staff from 1 to 3.
- Grew successful partnerships with The Aspen Institute, Conservation International and the National Park Service leadership development program. Supported Cavallo Point’s LEED certification process.
Green Impact
Strategy Consultant, November 1997 – May 2007, San Francisco, California
Designed and supported a range of multi-stakeholder dialogues and projects, including:
- Took the lead in developing the communications materials and Web site for a new school-based carbon reduction campaign called Curb Your Carbon, launched in 24 Marin schools, canceling over 700 cars worth of emissions (now part of Cool the Earth).
- Played a critical role in the design and implementation of the California Environmental Dialogue, a series of successful stakeholder dialogues that brought corporate leaders, from businesses such as Bank of America, Disney, Chevron, Hewlett Packard and PG&E, together with governmental and nonprofit leaders.
- Launched the City and County of San Francisco’s green computer purchasing program.
Sustainable Conservation
Senior Project Manager, September 1995 – October 1997, San Francisco, California
Part of the original team that helped launch Sustainable Conservation, now a leader in developing environmental solutions that make economic sense. Focused on the development of strategies that maximized conservation while providing an economic return. Worked with Wells Fargo to help sell a 60,000-acre ranch with conservation values in the Central Valley to The Nature Conservancy. Left to help start the California Environmental Dialogue (CED).
